Austria`s skiing legend from Carinthia: Franz Klammer
5th Franz Klammer hiking day on the 26th October 2009
The 5th Franz Klammer hiking day offers snow hikers the opportunity to once again conquer the steepest piste in Bad Kleinkirchheim, the World Cup slope “Kärnten-Franz Klammer” with their hiking poles. The fathers of the Franz Klammer hiking day LH Gerhard Dörfler, Franz Klammer and Otto Lobenwein, got the idea after a successful “Musiwandertag” – hiking day with musical accompaniment – to experience the World Cup piste without skiers for once.
This event attracts over 5,000 hikers a year into the Nockberg region on this national holiday. The king of the mountain himself Franz Klammer shows the World Cup run named after him and has a few tales to tell about his experiences in the world.
